Visiting someone’s kitchen can be an enlightening experience, as it gives an intimate view into their home life and passions. We may learn if they enjoy cooking or entertaining, but also a lot about their personality and inspirations.
While touring the kitchens of our friends and families can be very interesting, it’s nothing like seeing the inside of the home of one of our favorite mega stars like Taylor Swift. Time Magazine recently named her Person of the Year and she was interviewed in honor of the occasion.
As part of the article, she gave readers a tour of her New York City apartment, which included a fascinating view of her kitchen — that had some pretty surprising accessories. One especially endearing element was a Stevie Nicks Barbie doll, which as it’s a pretty valuable collectors’ item, sits pristine in her box in the kitchen. This doll is extra special to Swift because it was actually sent to her by the doll’s inspiration herself — Stevie Nicks!
Nicks and Swift are clearly friends, and have known each other a long time. They even performed at the Grammy Awards together in 2010, and Nicks, who was in a sense the Taylor Swift of another era, has said in past interviews that Swift doesn’t need her advice because she’s in a class all her own. “I don’t give Taylor advice about being famous. She doesn’t need it,” the singer once said.
And, in fact, there have been times that Swift has herself been an inspiration, or a kind of guiding light, for Nicks. While on tour, Nicks mentioned Swift mid-performance, thanking her for writing “You’re on Your Own, Kid,” which helped her process losing her friend and bandmate Christine McVie. “Thank you to Taylor Swift for doing a favor for me, and that is, writing a song called ‘You’re on Your Own, Kid,’” Nicks said. “That is the sadness of how I feel.”
Looks like even music’s greatest stars are Swifities!
