    El Caldito Soup Kitchen decorated for Thanksgiving by local Cub Scout Pack

    LAS CRUCES – El Caldito Soup Kitchen prepared for their annual Thanksgiving meal with decorations made by the local Cub Scout Pack #173. The 41-member pack of kindergarten through fifth graders created table arrangements at their latest meeting to decorate the foldout tables set up in the hall of the soup kitchen. About 15 children helped decorate Wednesday for those taking part in the traditional meal Thursday.     Philly chooses firm Design Workshop, to ‘reimagine’ Ben Franklin Parkway | Local News

    The City of Philadelphia has chosen a landscape architecture and urban planning firm to lead the redesign of the iconic Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The firm, Design Workshop, is expected to move forward with the long-awaited redesign in early 2022. City officials said Wednesday as they announced the selection that their goal is to make the century-old parkway stretching from Logan Circle to the Philadelphia Museum of Art safer and more attractive to people on foot or bikes. Design Workshop rose to the top because of its emphasis on inclusivity and equity, its plan to create “meaningful connections” to help Philadelphians

    $3,500 restitution ordered in home improvement fraud | Local News

    A Bledsoe County man received judicial diversion after pleading guilty to home improvement fraud but as part of that diversion, is to pay $3,500 restitution to the victim. That case was one of dozens appearing on the probation violation docket of Oct. 1. The guilty plea is being set aside, under terms of diversion, and if probation conditions are successfully met, the defendant will be able to petition the court to have the charge removed from his permanent record. If Isaac Houston Butler, Cedar Rd., Pikeville, does not successfully complete terms of diversion, he could be required to serve two

    Contractor gets probation for home improvement fraud | Local News

    BARRE, Vt. — A Woodstock man has been placed on probation for not finishing a job and taking thousands of dollars from a woman looking to remove lead paint from her building. Vincent E. Arbuiso, 45, pleaded no contest Wednesday in Washington County criminal court in Barre to a misdemeanor count of home improvement fraud. Arbuiso was given a sentence of 6 months to 2 years, all suspended, and placed on probation for two years.     The River Terrace Inn was able to hire some friends and family members of existing staffers to work as housekeepers, said the GM. “We’re able to manage right now,” yet, “we could definitely use another four folks in our housekeeping department,” Farrow said. The Inn uses a hiring bonus as one incentive to draw in those workers, he explained. After 30, 60 and 90 days on the job, new hires receive $200 bonus payments. “We also increased our wages for and housekeepers and cooks,” said Farrow.
